Friendly Match It
Subitizing to 10; portioning 10 in two parts. Developing spatial sense through arrays. Developing a sense of pattern in numbers.
1. Take the two 10-cards out of a single deck, so that 18 cards remain. Arrange them face up in a 3×6 or 2×9 array.
2. Player 1 picks a card. Player 2 picks the card that adds to ten (example: Player 1 chooses a 2; Player 2 picks the 8).
3. Help the child recite the equation.
4. Take turns until the cards are gone.
